A képzés célja: 
A díszlet- és jelmeztervező asszisztens olyan sokoldalú ismeretekkel rendelkező, kreatív szakember, aki munkájával részt vesz színházi produkció létrehozásában, illetve a filmkészítés területén. Tervezőművész irányításával részt vesz a díszlet- és jelmeztervezési munkák minden fázisában. Részfeladatokat önállóan is meg tud oldani, a kivitelezési munkák irányítását el tudja végezni. Olyan műveltséggel, szakmai, művészettörténeti, színháztörténeti, viselet-és bútortörténeti tudással és technikai ismeretekkel rendelkezik, amelyek képessé teszik tanulmányai folytatására a művészeti főiskolákon, egyetemeken.
