A képzés célja:
A Kiadványszerkesztő szakember stúdiókban, nyomdákban, szerkesztőségekben és könyvkiadóknál végez szakmai tevékenységet. A nyomda munkafolyamatait a kiadvány jellegzetességeinek megfelelően előkészíti. Szöveget rögzít manuálisan vagy szoftver segítségével. Számítógépes perifériákat, adatállományokat és szoftvereket kezel. Képeket digitális úton előállít, illetve feldolgoz. Adott oldalak szöveg, kép, grafikai stb. anyagait összeállítja az előzetes tervek alapján. A kiadványtervezői feladatokat – tekintettel a kiadvány jellegére – a gyártási technológiák igényei szerint elvégzi. Nyomdatermékeket és médiatermékeket tervez a gyártási technológiák és a megrendelő
igényeinek összehangolásával, figyelembevételével. Korrektori feladatokat lát el. Speciális tipográfiai feladatokat végez, pl. logotípiákat, ligatúrákat, betűkészletet, piktogramokat tervez, készít.
